Week 3:  Equipment needs, scout location sites

Week 4:    Begin shooting and recording narration, interview subjects


April

Week 1:  Choose music, audio effects, plan for visual effects


Post production  

Week 2/3:  Edit slides/video with Premiere, present first draft (est. April 6)  Second draft (April 12) any revisions, cleaning up edit, synchronize audio/music

Week 4: Final video

      The process of forming an effective documentary starts with good storytelling.  This form of storytelling gives the audience valuable information on the filmmaker's subject.  As the case with my documentary, the point of view is from the creator's own experience.  By sharing personal experiences of the country of Japan, the audience can be persuaded to visit for themselves.  During pre-production, the process of writing a script was very helpful.  This allowed to lay the foundation for the narration.  The goal of this documentary is to give the audience a unique perspective of Japan's culture.  These include modern and ancient architecture, Japanese cuisine, and forms of transportation.     The beginning of my video is important to set the proper tone of the film.  The music complements the visuals quite well.  The process of forming the narration was challenging though the outline helped with structuring a narr...

Schedule revisions

  March (Production) Week 2:  Acquired music file (www.freemusicarchive.org), several images downloaded from japan-guide.com, rough draft of video Week 3/4:  Gather equipment for shoot (dslr, digital video camera), scout for location in San Francisco(Japantown, chinatown) with crew, film intro/ending, meet with professor to discuss progress April (Post) Week 1:  Choose any graphics/effects for post-production, start editing video with Premiere Week 2:  decide on an end credit template, continue edit Week 3:  final stages of editing
